Single status
The law of 13 May 2008 introducing a single status, which came into force on 1 January 2009, put an end, among other things, to the distinction between the socio-professional categories of private employees and blue-collar workers in terms of social security and employment law.
While the National Health Fund (Caisse nationale de santé - CNS) has replaced the various sickness funds, the National Pension Insurance Office (“Caisse nationale d’assurance pension” - CNAP) has replaced the various private sector pension insurance funds.
Before the introduction of a single status, the various pension funds were classified according to the socio-professional background of their insured persons. Henceforth, the areas of activity of the four former pension funds of the general pension scheme,
- Etablissement d'assurance contre la vieillesse et l'invalidité (EAVI),
- Caisse de pension des employés privés (CPEP),
- Caisse de pension des artisans, des commerçants et industriels (CPACI),
- Caisse de pension Agricole (CPA),
are grouped within the National Pension Insurance Office (CNAP).
The general pension scheme applies to the private sector and is regulated in the Social Security Code.
