Survival pension
In the event of the death of an insured person or of a holder of an old-age or invalidity pension, a survival pension may be paid by the National Pension Insurance Office as part of the survivors' benefits.
Survival pension beneficiaries
Subject to the conditions below, the following are eligible for a survival pension:
- a surviving spouse
- a surviving partner
- a divorced spouse
- a former civil partner
- direct and collateral blood relatives up to the second degree and direct relatives by marriage up to the second degree
orphans
Based on the principle of gender equality, a survival pension may be awarded to the survivor, regardless of gender.
