Information about the pension reform planned for 2026

A reform of the pension system is underway in Luxembourg. Among other things, the draft law provides for a gradual extension of the contribution period by a total of eight months until 2030, starting on 1 July 2026.

👉 Good to know:

As the legislative process is ongoing, the conditions for granting pensions from 1 July 2026 may be subject to certain adjustments.

For this reason, the CNAP is currently unable to provide definitive answers to requests for estimates and applications for early retirement pensions from the age of 60, to which the new provisions will apply.

👉 Rest assured:

The CNAP will proceed as usual with the examination of your application and the reconstruction of your insurance career. However, the final response to your request for an estimate or early retirement pension can only be communicated after the new legal provisions come into force.

There is no need to contact us to find out how long it will take to process your application — we will get back to you as soon as your file has been finalised.

👉 PLEASE NOTE!  The following are not affected by the changes:

  • Pensions already being paid,
  • Old-age pensions from the age of 65,
  • Early retirement pensions from the age of 57.

Thank you for your understanding and trust.
